Tribute to a good Friend and Gentleman

Today we lay to rest George Harrison, a friend, a gentleman and a true man of Liverpool. George had a great passion for traditional singing and introduced us to this song many years ago in his sitting room in Waterloo. He sang it to us on numerous occasions with his cockatoo harmonising, a unique and unrepeatable combination. The song held great meaning to him on many levels. He was a self-taught ornithologist and expert on all things nature related. He shared his knowledge freely and generously to all, and the sharing of this knowledge and wisdom has enriched many lives with a love and respect for the natural environment. His loss will be felt deeply by those who spent time in his company, none more so than our good friend Chris.

He said on many occasions that he wanted this song for his funeral celebration and it is our privilege to honour his wish.

Our friend has left us and our hearts are sore. We raise a glass to you George for the stories, songs and the times we have shared. Safe journey with a fair wind mate and have a nippy ready for us when we meet again.
