John Hartley

John Hartley was a fiddle player who was born in 1914. He was a Grandson of Eugene O’Sullivan and cousin of Eugie O’Shea another fiddle player from Cois Commeragh. He learned most of his music from his aunt Tessy O’Sullivan (Moulcore). He earned his living as a tailor and spent some time in England. He played music in England and learned some tunes from Tom Maguire, the uncle of the legendary Sean Maguire. On his return to Kerry he lived in the townland Buín Bán and taught music in the local area.
