Eugene O’Shea

Eugene O’Shea ‘Eugie’ was born in 1911 in the townland Cois Commeragh, an Dromaid. He was a skilled fiddle player and a grandson of Eugene O’Sullivan who was also a very skilled musician. He learned most of his tunes directly from his grandfather. The fiddle in the photograph still survives and is played to this day, by a neighbour who inherited the fiddle after his death. Eugie played at a lot of house dances in the locality with his cousin Paddy O’Sullivan ’Moulcore’.
